Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 15, 2026

At Choose Chile, we process the personal data of those who visit this site. This document explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how long we retain it, and what you can do about it. It combines the privacy policy and the cookie policy into a single page, since they address the same issues from two different perspectives.

On this page

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is [FILL IN: official name of the organization], [FILL IN: Tax ID], with its registered office at [FILL IN: address], Chile.

For any matters related to your personal data, you can write to [FILL IN: email]. [FILL IN if applicable: We have appointed a data protection officer, whom you can contact at the same address.]

2. What data we process and where it comes from

2.1. Information You Provide to Us

The information you enter in a form on the site: [FILL IN: name, email address, country, organization, the content of your inquiry]. Each form indicates which fields are required; you can leave the rest blank.

2.2. Data Generated While Browsing

  • IP address and technical connection information.
  • Browser type and version, operating system, and language.
  • Pages visited, time spent on the site, and where you came from.
  • Your cookie preference, so we don't have to ask you again on every visit.

Except for the last one, this data is collected only if you accept the cookies that collect it. Without your consent, your browsing activity is not tracked.

2.3. Data We Do Not Process

This site does not request or require sensitive information—such as health information, ethnic origin, political or union affiliation, beliefs, sexual orientation, or biometric data—nor does it request economic or financial information. If you voluntarily provide us with such information in a message, we will delete it unless it is essential for us to respond to you.

3. What we use them for and on what legal basis

Every treatment needs a reason to justify it. Here are ours:

We do not make automated decisions that affect you, nor do we create individual profiles. Our website analytics are aggregated: they tell us how many people visit each section, not who.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

A cookie is a small file that the site stores on your device to recognize it on subsequent visits. We also use other similar technologies, such as browser local storage; when we say “cookies” here, we are referring to all of them.

[FILL IN: If specific tools—such as tracking, translation, or embedded video—are enabled, you should list them here by name, including who provides them and a link to their privacy policy. This allows users to verify for themselves what is happening in their browser.]

4.2. Nothing happens until you decide

Non-essential cookies are disabled by default. None are enabled until you accept them, and rejecting them is just as easy as accepting them: the two buttons are on the same level in the notification and in the preferences window.

4.3. How to Change Your Decision

You can change it whenever you want, and withdrawing your consent is just as easy as giving it:

The same button is always available in the footer. You can also delete or block cookies from your browser settings; please note that if you block essential cookies, parts of the site will stop working.

5. Who We Share Them With

We do not sell personal data or share it with third parties for their own purposes. Access to this data is limited to:

  • Vendors who work on our behalf: website hosting, analytics, and translation. They process data in accordance with our instructions and are bound by confidentiality obligations. [FILL IN: names of vendors.]
  • Public authorities, when required by law or a court order.

6. Transfers Outside Chile

This site is intended for audiences in other countries, and some of the services we use are hosted outside of Chile. When this involves transferring personal data to another country, we will do so only if that country provides an adequate level of protection or if there are sufficient contractual safeguards in place. [TO BE COMPLETED: specify the countries or regions and the specific mechanism on which each transfer is based.]

7. How long do we keep them?

  • Inquiries received: [FILL IN: time period] since the inquiry period closed.
  • Measurement data: [TO BE COMPLETED: timeframe], always in aggregate form.
  • Record of your consent: for as long as it remains in effect and for as long as necessary to prove that you gave it.

Once the retention period has expired, the data is deleted or anonymized so that it can no longer be linked to any individual.

8. Your Rights and How to Exercise Them

You may exercise the following rights regarding your personal data, free of charge:

  • Access: Find out what personal data we process about you and obtain a copy.
  • Correction: Correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Deletion: Request that your data be deleted when it is no longer needed or when you withdraw your consent.
  • Opposition: asking that we stop treating them in certain circumstances.
  • Portability: Receive the data you have provided to us in a reusable format, or request that we send it to another data controller.
  • Hold: Temporarily suspend processing while a request is being resolved.

To exercise these rights, please write to [FILL IN: email] indicating which right you wish to exercise and attaching proof of your identity. We will respond within the timeframe established by law. [FILL IN: confirm the applicable timeframe.]

Withdrawing your consent does not affect the processing that was lawfully carried out prior to its withdrawal.

9. Safety

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect data against loss, unauthorized access, or misuse: traffic encryption, access controls, and activity logging. No measure is foolproof; if an incident occurs that could affect you, we will inform you and notify the relevant authority when appropriate.

10. Girls, Boys, and Adolescents

This site is not intended for minors and does not intentionally collect their personal information. If we discover that we have received personal information from a minor without the appropriate authorization, we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Document

We may update this text if our processing practices, tools, or regulations change. The date at the top indicates when it was last modified. If the change is significant and affects something you have consented to, we will ask for your consent again before implementing it.

12. Contact and Complaints

If you have any questions about this document or the processing of your personal data: [FILL IN: email].

If you believe we have not properly addressed your request, you may file a complaint with the competent data protection authority in Chile. [TO BE COMPLETED: name and contact information of the authority in effect as of the date of publication.]
